FRANK WATERS AWARD
The Frank Waters Award for Excellence in Literature was awarded to Alexander Blackburn at a
ceremony held on April 9, 2005, at the Antlers Hilton Hotel in Colorado Springs. Upon accepting
the honor, Blackburn gave the following speech in which he discerns in writers as diverse as
Neruda, Solzhenitsyn, Borges and Waters a majestic purpose in the pursuit of literature.
